Small to Mid-Scale LNG Plants

Small and mid-scale plants are used primarily to meet local or regional energy requirements. Small to mid-scale LNG plants typically have a production capacity on the order of 50,000 – 1,500,000 tonnes per year.

Linde specializes in providing custom solutions for each customer's individual requirements, this means offering a full range of liquefaction technologies. Linde's Basic Single Flow process is recommended for plants with a capacity of less than 200,000 tpa, where simplicity and reduced capital expenditure are paramount. The LiCooN process uses a nitrogen expander cycle with a CO2 pre-cooling cycle for liquefaction capacities of up to 1 mtpa without the use of flammable refrigerants.

Linde's Advanced Single Flow process provides increased liquefaction efficiency and robustness for liquefaction capacities of approximately 200,000 – 2,500,000 tonnes per year.

Linde Engineering has multiple references for the application of the Basic Single Flow and Advanced Single Flow processes in small and mid-scale LNG plants.
